Descendants of Josiah Rising and Abagail Nimbs
Volume One of the Captives series, begins with Josiah Rising and Abagail Nimbs. They were taken captive as children by natives on February 29, 1704 at Deerfield, Massachusetts and taken to Quebec. Josiah Raizenne and Abagil-Marie-Elisabeth Nims married at Oka, Quebec on on July 29, 1715. Nine children were born to this couple. Three daughters and one son joined religious professions in the Roman Catholic Church. Seven generations of their descendants are included in this book with many families recorded in Quebec and Onatrio in the 1850s. Their descendant Adolpus Dubreuil arrived in the area Manitoba and married Louise Kirkness, daughter of John Kirkness and Eizabeth Cook. Fourteen children Metis children were born to this family.
