Irasshai: Welcome to Japanese, Volume 1, the first of two volumes, is one component of a nationally acclaimed Japanese language and culture distance learning course designed for high school students. Volumes 1 and 2 and corresponding workbooks are recommended for use as a three-year high school foreign language program. The purpose of the Irasshai program is to help learners develop a beginning level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing Japanese as well as an understanding of Japanese culture. Irasshai is performance-based and its curriculum mirrors national foreign language standards.
