For thirty-three cycles, Kazsian has been free. She's flown across systems, dodged the UNED, and evaded the grasp of the Bulundayr Empire. But the one thing she cannot escape is her past.

Forced to choose between death and servitude, Kazsian forgoes her freedom for a chance to live. But freedom does not end her isolation. Hated, derided, and ignored, Kazsian makes her way to Gorm on an Abernieth pirate vessel to pose as a humanitarian worker among Valindii refugees, all the while looking for an opportunity to escape.
