Touching Ice Cream Cones is the third volume in Petre Tiberius Zorne's poetry compilation, titled The Trilogy. In Volume I, Silence of the Lamb Chops, Zorne wrestles with his perplexing and amorphic relationship with the femme fatale, Lavender Berkowitz. In Volume II, Pajama Party, the cantos were penned by Zorne while he was under observation and treatment at Our Sisters of Perpetual Motion Sanatorium. It is a self-portrait, painted in verse, recounting the poet's hellish journey into and out of psychosis. Here in Volume III, Touching Ice Cream Cones, the reader is introduced to a refurbished artistic scribe who has come to terms with the essence of his existence. Those acquainted with this ingenious individualist, will describe Zorne as pugnacious, pompous, and pretentious. Despite being recognized as a prodigy, denigrators interpret the composer's work as a confrontation to the mores of modern-day poetry. Zorne's life and his writings are influenced and complicated by what he calls his complex internal circuitry. Zorne is phobia filled, self-regarding, and narcissistic. Included amongst his assemblage of phobias are a rare form of Gingerphobia (fear of the color red), which manifests in the terror and trauma red-haired women trigger; Papaphobia (fear of the Pope), Arachibutyrophobia (the fear of peanut butter becoming stuck to the roof of your mouth); Corpulophobia (fear of widths); and a fear of men wearing underwear on the outside of their pants called Esorouchaphobia. Zorne's cantos run the gambit from rhyme schemes to free form to stream of consciousness. His poetry is an annotation from a contentious individual living a tortuous and mysterious existence. The poet encourages you, the reader, to decide for yourself if he is vain and reprehensible or an iconoclastic prodigy-or both. Not unlike the person coming upon a hideous car accident, you may find it impossible "not to look."
