Volume 5 John William Waterhouse 1848-1917 An English painter (April 6, 1849 - February 10, 1917) know for working in the Pre-Raphaelite style. Classical, Historical and literary subjects form the majority of his body of work. His latter painting were almost exclusively particularly tragic or powerful femmes fatales, as well as plein-air painting, all characteristic of the Pre-Raphaelist style

Although not as well known as earlier Pre-Raphaelite artists, Waterhouse's paintings have received favor in the years since his death. Both parents were painters as well, but his hard work throughout his life propelled him, as a well known artist, for work completed in Italy and England
